Plasma 4 Extensions by jamjam 5 comments

If you'd do that it'd be grand! :D

Hmmm, I imagine you'd have to take into account the local coastshape (e.g. of the Adriatic), but to be honest, I haven't the slightest... I'm pretty sure that already throughout the Adriatic the tides are not the same for every port (which to US standards are pretty close together).

If you have any ideas where to look or ask, I'd look into how to get the right data or difference. - Mar 29 2011

Too bad there's only US data. For Slovenia (EU) I managed to find:

Just curious, would it be possible to do the same with a script as well? - Mar 29 2011

Webcam & Monitoring by apol 101 comments

I read on your FAQ why you use VLC now instead of AVdevice (like Kopete does).

Of course probably the right thing to do(TM) would be to fix AVdevice, but another idea would be to check out how other non-KDE webcam apps handle this. There's a few: Cheese, camE, SDLcam, spcaview, sonicsnap..

To be honest, VLC is quite a beast as a dependancy for just recording from webcam. - Nov 01 2010

Please, please don't use WTFPL ...as cool as it might seem, it's a bloody useless license that is legally very questionable.

If you want to waive your rights as much as possible (i.e. "do WTF you want with my stuff") try for code BSD/MIT and for other stuff CC-BY or even CC-0. - Aug 02 2010

Bangarang

Audioplayers by jamboarder 123 comments

So far Bangarang seems like a really media player and I probably use it equally as often as Dragon (and SMplayer only when those two don't work good enough).

What bothers me though is that I only use it for playing video, so when the 'audio' tag opens every time I start Bangarang it takes me one click more to make it usable.

Could you please make an option in the settings for the user to chose whether he would like to see audio, video or both tabs presented? - Jul 27 2010

at least in 2.0 there is a problem with coloured text in tabs — like e.g. Konversation uses.

I usually run my fortune like this:

Have you looked at KRecipes already? It's quite advanced and a KDE 4.0 port is already there (I'm using 2.0-alpha4).

They use RecipeML as well for importing/exporting, but use due to extra features use their own format.

Have you considered joining forces with them? ;)

Mixeroid

Plasma 4 Extensions by thymythos 42 comments

Could you add support for muting?

I use this plasmoid on top of my screensaver, so when I resume my laptop in e.g. a public library or at the university, I can mute the sound output, before unlocking the screen (and thus before it plays any sound).

I'd be even happier, if there was an option to just have the mute button show without the whole mixer. - Mar 09 2009

Is it just me or are (at least on KDE 4.2) the cursors for resizing rotated for 90° — or more probably, that the wrong file is being used.

Using Kopete 0.70.0 (KDE 4.2.0) I stumbled upon this bug:

wherever a long nickname is shown it wraps the text, but it's positioned so you can still see the topmost three (or so) pixels of the lower line.

The same is true for the topmost pixels of the date under the nickname in the sidebar. - Feb 20 2009

It seems to be a problem with kdelibs.

I was told this by numerodix, who stumbled upon the same problem and already tried to find the culprit code in kdelibs.

OK, now I managed to reproduce it. :/

It seems like a very odd error, since the syntax doesn't seem to have changed. I'll figure it out — if it's my fault, I'll fix it; if it's not, I'll file a bug report to Kopete. - Feb 13 2009

I just installed KDE 4.2.0 (Gentoo) and when starting Kopete and installing this emoticon set using the interface in Kopete itself, it works without any problems whatsoever.

Which KDE version do you run?

I'm still on KDE 3.5 and haven't heard of this error so far — maybe there's a different syntax in the KDE4 emoticon files.

When I get KDE 4.2 (sometime this week or the next) I'll test it and fix it, if needed. - Jan 26 2009
STDIN Plasmoid

Plasma 4 Extensions by PlasmaFactory 94 comments

I think it would be very useful if there was a Plasmoid that would display the latest StdErr output.

Imagine compiling something or just running an application (from GUI, not CLI) and therefore missing the error output. If something would be constantly on the prow and catching them and displaying the errors on desktop — that'd be really cool :]

P.S. Could you please write in the description also what this Plasmoid *actually* does? - Jan 24 2009

How does/will Flo compare to KDissert/Semantik?

Also, how hard would it be to write an exporter for ConTeXt documents?

KDissert and Semantik are mindmapping tools for KDE3 and KDE4 respectively.

ConTeXt is a macrolanguage for TeX, which is more modern and elastic then LaTeX (it also has native Unicode support, for starters). - Dec 22 2008
Keep

System Software by jrfaller 87 comments

I just received an e-mail from the author, stating that he is too busy with his PhD to continue to develop Keep for a while.

He did not mention leaving it die, but did say he'd very much like seeing someone come and take over development of Keep.

So, I think the answer to your question is: if someone steps forward and takes over the porting.

I sure hope so. I fell in love with Keep's simplicity and usability :]

P.S. In that e-mail I asked him if he could include support for pre- and post- scripts (to e.g. mount and unmount en external disk if present). He likes the idea, but has not the time. - Dec 16 2008

Hullo.

I haven't tried it before, but at least for 1.03 I can say that it does not work for me.

When I open a .lua file in Kate I get a popup dialog claiming that the syntax highlighting is erroneous and will therefore be disabled.

I tripple-checked that it was the current 1.03 (the one from Kate's KGetHotNewStuff and the one here marked as "1.02" are identical).

For other syntaxes the highlighting in Kate works for me normally. - Aug 09 2008
