Description:

My first cursors theme... please be kind :)

For installation simply:

$ cd
$ mkdir .icons
$ cd .icons
$ tar zxvf /path/to/theme.tar.gz
$ mkdir default
$ echo "[icon Theme]" > default/index.theme
$ echo "Inherits=signalos" >> default/index.theme

and restart your X server :)

- fixed symlinks
- new hand cursor (mech style)
- new xkill cursor
- new and beautiful animated watch cursor

If your out there velenux, I've made a few alterations to your theme & would like to publish it as a revision or maybe an update (version 1.1?) with your permission ofcourse? Awaiting your answer.

NIce job man. Currently using your theme and have no complaints. Size is good, easily viewable on light or dark themes and all the bases are covered.
I do agree with some points made here, mostly about some translucency would nice and some colour variations wold be good too. Loving the busy cursor, maybe adding some more frames it would awesome. Keep up the good work!

Great theme. Just a few suggestions:

1. The cursors are far too big. Please have a smaller version (32x32 would be good).

2. It would be nice if they were more translucent, like the Whiteglass theme that comes with XFree86

3. How about having versions of the theme with different colours? You could have blue, red, green, etc. variants.

but really too big !
I tried .Xresources bur nothing
the write cursor is also misplaced
sometimes hard

I really enjoy it but wait for these improvements

I downloaded that package of cursors, but I can't find the index.theme file! Where it should be? Is it invisible? where do I get it? and I did just like there was told that installation with console, it said there is no such file that index.theme!

I just installed xfree86 4.3 and followed your instructions for installation.
But still it doesn´t work....

- ita256: the second release contains animated cursors with alpha blending (the watch cursor)
- ita256: I think that an install script it's not fundamental, but I'll try to include it in following releases

- yagami: try the second release! :))

- Deciare: I'll fix the text entry (very annoying... I'll fix asap!), for the size, read below

- zfakh: you can reduce the size for the cursor simply adding the following line to your .Xresources (it's in your home directory... if not, create it):

Xcursor.size: 32

(and, of course, logout & login)

try also 36 or 48... this should scale nicely, drop me a note if so :)

Hi,
I like this cursor theme, it's really nice.
But the cursors are BIG, can you make'em smaller ?
Anyway, it's beautiful.

Hi, I got the same problem with the SignalOS cursors. They look quite good but they are too big. I changed the value of ~/.Xresources to .Xcursor.size: 32 and other values but it didn't have any impact on the acutal size. I even explicitly added
xrdb $HOME/.Xresources to the ~/.xinitrc file in order to make X look for the cursor resources defined in .Xresources but it didn't help either.
So, is anyone outthere who has been able to manage this cursers to become smaller in some way? and if yes, then How?

The text entry (I-Beam) cursor's hotspot is misplaced. The caret appears far to the right of the cursor when I click on a text field.

Also, the size of the cursors blots out a portion of most tooltips and startup notification icons. I don't really need to see them clearly, but it's a minor annoyance. Translucency would solve these problems and look good in the process. ;)

yes, experiencing these problems as well rendering this entire theme unusable and rated as a negative :(

I like them accept that the normal pointer look jagged when it's on a dark background. When it's over an app with light colouring it looks great.

Keep up the good work. I'll give it a try on the next revision. :)

hum... i dont like the wait cursors

and transparency would be nice ( or maybe not )

The theme is wonderful ! With colors and alphablending it would be perfect. Concerning the installation, could you make an install script ? It is not that hard to install, but some people really hate to type more than one command line. Such and archive would be quite easy to do since there is nothing to compile. I think it can be made easily using makeself (http://www.megastep.org/makeself/). Don't forget to include md5 integrity check in your script ;-)
