Doesn't work with KDE 4.3 RC2 (view as "Air")

Hi,

I had the same problem after playing with my settings in KDE 4.4. So I added the lines

[Theme]
name=slim-glow

into ~/.kde/share/config/plasmarc and it worked. I fortunately found them in a plasmarc.bak file ;)

This theme is really nice. Thanks a lot ivancukic !

I concur, it does not install from themes. Is not part of KDE 4.3.2 and when installed manually it displays as AIR (white theme).

Disappointed, I really like the look of this - I'll just stick with Glassified for now.

That only means that it is not installed. Check your installation/packages...

It's doesn't work because in metadata.desktop file X-KDE-PluginInfo-Name is default.
You should change it to slim-glow, such as: X-KDE-PluginInfo-Name=slim-glow

X-KDE-PluginInfo-Name=slim-glow is set in both trunk and 4.3 branch...

See for yourself: http://websvn.kde.org/branches/KDE/4.3/kdeartwork/desktopthemes/slim-glow/metadata.desktop?view=markup

I am unable to see it among the plasma themes available to choose as well. I installed using KHotNewStuff.

Don't install from kde-look.

It has been a part of KDE (now in kdeartwork and before that kdeplasma-addons) since KDE 4.1.

After installing Chakra Alpha 4 w/ KDE 4.3.3 I've only got two themes to choose from - Air and Oxygen.

I really love you Slim Glow theme! The only thing not so pretty is the style of the panel when compositing is disabled. It seems to fall back to that blueish brick from the default plasma theme Oxygen, which kinda contradicts with the lightness of the rest of the theme. How about having something lighter here as well? E.g. the translucent panel just blended with a black backround?

Hi, great theme but unfortunately it doesn't work for me. I'm using KDE 4.2 on Kubuntu. Composition is on. See the screenshot for the problem.

The Version here on this side is still V0.6x and not for KDE 4.2!

I think he has simply forget to upload the new theme ....

Ahh so that's the problem :)

Do you know where I can find the latest version? I accidentally deleted the one on my computer.

Download this: ftp://ftp.kde.org/pub/kde/stable/4.2.0/src/kdeartwork-4.2.0.tar.bz2

Copy "desktoptheme/slimglow" to "/home/Username/.kde/share/apps/desktoptheme", then you have a working V2.0 of SlimGlow.

Hi, I haven't exactly forgotten to update the theme here, I have intentionally omitted posting the version from 4.2 since it is being shipped with all distros that ship KDE.

As for the kubuntu, I have no idea in which package it is (kdeartwork or something) but it is certainly being shipped.

As I've mentioned above, KDE-look will be used for the development version of slim-glow. And *that* I did forgot to upload :) (I want to revamp the taskbar a bit before I upload it)

Cheers!

Sorry for the late reply. Slim-glow does indeed ship with Kubuntu, it's just that I accidentally deleted it and couldn't get it back.

I forgot about tasks. Check this out:

The colors can be different.

This looks awesome, especially with your wallpaper (with one exception - the /normal/ background - I would remove the background from normal items).

I'm not sure whether it is possible* though, and what it would look like on vertical panels.

* Qt's SVG rendering is not comparable to Inkscape's, so (last time I checked) blur didn't work - so it would have to be faked which is a bit difficult.

Waiting for the next generation Plasma theme :D Hope to see it soon. Thx that you like my idea.

KWin's blur effect should work with plasma's transparent panels, widgets, etc. I already reported a wish on bugs.kde.org.

Report

C

I wasn't talking about blurring the background (although that is another issue) but blurring needed for the task button effect.

I really want to see Win7 like panel. Not exactly the same look ofc, but with a nice glass effect. Widgets background should look the same. I really love glassy themes, but the available on kde-look don't look so cool i want them to.

Sorry for my bad eng.
