well, despite the comments that the instructions are wrong, they work for me!

This is a great service menu addition. Now I can organise my folders like on Mac! Well done.

The script has 0.2 in the 0.3 version file and 0.1 in the 0.2 version file. Is there some confusion?

And I am unable to use 0.3 -- somehow it just doesn't work -- should I update the desktop file too?

hm, yes ;). I'm sorry for that confusion but the latest version (0.3) uses the script version 0.2 that's because there were no changes between v. 0.1 and 0.2. And you need the latest desktop file because it was changed between 0.2 and 0.3.
I know a bit confusing but I thought it wouldn't be a problem to update both files every time.

Found a small bug, the script can't seem to handle folders with a space in the name.

Something like sed 's/ /\\ /g' should work to escape all the spaces.

Cheers!

As you can read in the changelog above I have fixed the problem with spaces. But there are still problems with chars like " and '. Hope I'll find a way to fix that.

Yeah, thank you. I will have a look at this, but actually I don't know what to do, because the script iterates trough each parameter in order to tint more than one folder. Something like getting the filenames as encoded urls from the servicemenu file would be better, but I haven't found out how to realize that.

I don't get to understand you. Or don't you understand me? My idea was with 37% of approval, however, this other idea, identical to mine,
with 82%!!!

Stop whining, the idea is implemented and it seems to work fine.

To the author: nice addition, maybe this way I'll start coloring my folders. Sure the option already existed but it was hidden to far away. Thanks!

Hm, I don't really need this, I made it because I thought some guys like you could like it. But you wanted it to be in KDE4 and I'm sure my servicemenu will never be there, because most people don't need it.
As I saw your request, I decided to make it because it is really easy (if you know how). So don't care and use it if you want to, it will never be in KDE.

I know a lot of people that loved this possiblidade of putting colors in the pastes,
thanks to the application of the windows. They could have the possibility to put, besides
colors, pastes for music, videos, images, texts, pdf.
I think it would be interesting to do this in the new kde. It is a freshness,
but it is more beautiful, and organized.

you wrote:

copy colorfolder to ~/bin/colorfolder
make it executable chmod 755 ~/bin/colorfolder

~/bin/colorfolder should be /bin/colorfolder

but

copy colorfolder.desktop to ~/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus/colorfolder.desktop

this is correct

/bin?

Rather /usr/local/bin or better /opt/kde3/bin.

But I also have a bin folder in my home directory that is in the path. Can't live without it.

You will need to be root in order to copy it to /bin/colorfolder. For copying it to ~/bin/colorfolder you haven't got to. Most people have ~/bin in their PATH, so if it didn't work for you you may want to add ~/bin to your PATH variable.

Had to change a bit because Crystal SVG doesn't have a blue or cyan folder, but the possibilities of this are endless with the folders for music and stuff like that.

Keep up the good work.

We like. We are adapting for our use to include things like audio video, and other specialty directory icons.

Thanks!
