Suave is an understated and stylish look for the Plasma desktop. It requires the matching Kvantum which is here: https://www.pling.com/p/1509334/

I'll have a look over the next week or two. Not sure though, its hard to make gradients work in the dark. ;)

10 Amazing, but I can't figure out how to apply Window Decorations. They just don't show up, whether I install them with the global theme or separately. I'm a bit of a noob on KDE, maybe I'm doing something wrong, can someone help?

I checked other themes, and they work fine. For some reason only this one has that issue. I checked the folder for window decorations, and the theme did download. So not sure what's causing this. Please help, if you know.

I had an extra directory in the tarball. Just download the window decoration version 1.1.

I had just tried this theme in a virtual machine and it worked fine. I think my issue is probably that I'm using KDE as a second desktop environment. I've been considering moving to it from Cinnamon, and this theme is the thing that finally made me decide. I will probably just do a clean install of Kubuntu next time and it should work. I can't thank you enough for this theme though! This is so far the best theme I've seen in my 2 years of using Linux. If I may offer a tiny bit of feedback though, could you please make the X (close) button in the window decoration interactable from the very corner of the window? So that, when the window is maximized, one could just move their cursor into the top-right edge of the screen and easily close it. Do you know what I mean? I would really appreciate it, but nevertheless still an amazing theme, thank you!

Sorry to disappoint but I've moved the maximised titlebar buttons again. Allowing to close from top right corner breaks the look of the theme too hard. Either keep 1.2 or, if you update, edit Suaverc lines 33 & 34: TitleEdgeRightMaximized=1, TitleEdgeLeftMaximized=1.

Oh, it's alright, I won't have to update anytime soon, but thanks for letting me know how to fix it. Say, is there the slightest chance you could ever develop a theme for Cinnamon? I like it a little bit more than KDE, but there's no good skeuomorphic themes for it at all.

Unlikely. GTK is themed using stylesheets (its always Adwaita) whereas Plasma is themed by drawing all the elements (FrameSvg) which makes skeuomorphic possible. Also, CSS is just tedious, isn't it? ;P

Tbh, I haven't yet delved into how Plasma's themes work or what FrameSvg is, but there's been quite a few great themes for GTK (the last one I used was Vertex by Horst3180). Usually to create Skeuomorphic they just use images as assets, so you have to draw every button, slider and texture. Which, I imagine, is a huge amount of work. So it's understandable there's very few skeuomorphic themes, but really sad, because that's the only thing that pushed me away from Cinnamon. CSS is tedious, but I would do it myself, honestly. I have learned a little bit about customizing the panels in Cinnamon, but I think I could learn more. If only I had the required artistic skills to make my own theme :/

I was hugely impressed with Vertex back in the day. Whilst you can load images as assets, they can't resize on the fly - e.g., I can draw a framed svg for a line edit and it will appear the same no matter how wide or tall its drawn onscreen - the center element is scaled (or tiled) but the borders remain intact. An external asset can only be scaled and so distorts on resize. You need many images drawn at differing sizes. And did I mention how tedious CSS is? ;)
You can learn a lot by taking screenshots of themes you like and using a screen magnifier to really look closely at how they're drawn. A good color picker also helps and I rely on this one https://github.com/agateau/colorpick. Start by drawing a button and when you feel good, move on to other elements.

Ah, I see. I did notice problems with distortion, when I tried to modify some existing themes. I feel like eventually I will have to learn to draw themes myself, since I'm so dissatisfied with all these flat themes that are so popular nowadays :) Thanks for the tips, and thanks again for Suave, legit the best theme of any desktop environment I've seen since I moved to Linux! You're doing God's work.

Global Themes

Global Themes in Plasma are Meta- or Super-Themes, capable of changing multiple aspects of the desktop environment at once, like Window Decoration, Plasma Theme, Color Scheme, Icon Theme etc. In addition, one can define the complete Layout, like what panel to use where, the menu type used and much more.

An example Global Theme:
