Description:

A monochromatic color-compatible theme based on the style of Spectrum Minimal Classic. The task indicators on the panel are minimal and more simplified. This is the neutral theme base for the new Colors added to Spectrum.

Changing Panel Color:

The hard-coded color themes in Spectrum are meant for ease of use, but if you would like to set the color of your own panel and menus, all you have to do is:

  • add a color scheme file (*.colors) of your choice to this theme's directory in ~/.local/share/plasma/desktoptheme/spectrum-classic-colors/
  • change the name of the file to just "colors" so its name and period are both removed.
  • reapply the theme and your panel and menus should now have become the color of the theme you chose.

This process is more complicated than suggested, but it certainly makes for a nice customization.

Changing Panel Opacity:

Opacity can now be changed using the script included with theme. Navigate to the theme's directory and pass a value from 0 to 99 to the script.

For example:
$ cd ~/.local/share/plasma/desktoptheme/spectrum-classic-colors

$ ./changeOpacity 43

Spectrum replaces the now discontinued Genome in favor of the new design directions Plasma is going in. Past designs only work with older versions of the desktop and are no longer possible today. To view them see, Dark and Light.
