Description:

A slightly different version of Tumbleweed Plymouth.
Modified Original version of openSUSE Tumbleweed Plymoth.
Changed background color as well as openSUSE Tumbleweed Logo. Spinner remained the same.

To install:

- Download, extract, and copy the folder to /usr/share/plymouth/themes

- Edit: /etc/plymouth/plymouthd.conf and change the theme name to tumbleweed


plymouthd.conf looks like this:

# Distribution defaults. Changes to this file will get overwritten during
# upgrades.
[Daemon]
Theme = bgrt
ShowDelay = 0
DeviceTimeout = 5

And after the change, it will look like this:

# Distribution defaults. Changes to this file will get overwritten during
# upgrades.
[Daemon]
Theme = tumbleweed
ShowDelay = 0
DeviceTimeout = 5


- Open a terminal and execute: mkinitrd

- reboot

10 The theme is great, but one thing to note is that on openSUSE you need to execute
sudo dracut -force

Plymouth

Plymouth is a bootsplash for Linux supporting animations using Direct Rendering Manager and KMS driver. It gets packed into the initrd. Besides eye-candy, Plymouth also handles user interaction during boot. Wikipedia

Installation instructions:

  1. copy YOURTHEME folder to usr/share/plymouth/themes/YOURTHEME

  2. run in terminal:

sudo plymouth-set-default-theme YOURTHEME -R
