Description:

material-black COLORS is a new GTK, xfwm4, GNOME-Shell, and Cinnamon- Dark Mode Theme with matching Icons and Folders.

The material-black COLORS theme is based on Material Design standards and aims to bring a warm, colorful, and elegant experience to your desktop. Black-on-black-on-black with one additional color just where you need it.

This is the matching desktop theme.
FOR ICONS & FOLDERS PRESS DEFAULT IMAGE ABOVE.

Both the Suru++ and the Numix icons and folders have been carefully crafted to match the material-black COLORS desktop flavors, but they can surely compliment other desktop themes that sport matching color hues.

Special thanks to the Numix team for their inspiration, expertise and contributions at: https://github.com/numixproject/numix-icon-theme. The Suru-grounded icon set was initially designed and developed by Sam Hewitt - under GPL3. The original Suru icon set and concept was created by Matthieu James - Canonical Design Team. Core developers are Andrea Bonanni (original author) and Gustavo Costa . Devices icons are inspired by La Capitaine created by Keefer Rourke - under GPL3/MIT. Emoji icons are derived from the Twenoji created by Twitter Team - under MIT. Some icons are based on Numix mimetypes icons created by the Numix Team - under GPL3. Devices and places icons and several apps icons are inspired by Papirus icons created by Alexey Varfolomeev - under GPL3. Numberless icons are from Gravit Designer, under GPL3/MIT.

Manual Installation Is Easy:

For themes: 1) Extract the "tar.xz" file into your "~/.themes/" folder - to install for current user only - or into the "/usr/share/themes/" folder - for the theme to be applied globally. 2) Use the GNOME Tweak Tool or an equivalent app to enable it for your desktop.

If installing manually, make sure to install the dependency: "Murrine theme engine" if you do not already have it; and update your GTK+packages if you have not.

For icons: 1) Extract the "tar.xz" file into your "~/.icons/" folder - to install for current user only - or into the "/usr/share/icons/" folder - for the icons and folders to be applied globally. 2) Use the GNOME Tweak Tool or an equivalent app to enable them for your desktop.

Logging out and then logging back in may be necessary on some operating systems to fully implement themes and icons.

All six flavors underwent modifications this update. These upgrades include tweaks vis-a-vis standard and header text. While subtle enough not to change the appearance of the theme, these slight brightening enhancements to text, nevertheless, render better clarity and definition - and thus readability. Thank you! I switched over form your COBA theme, I guess it didn't take off like this one because this one gets a lot more cool updates, I noticed. Great work on both though!

I love this theme, however, the text is hard to read because of how grey it is. Does anyone know how to change the text color?

This is one of those new(ish) "mid-contrast" themes - and it is a personal preference thing. Keep in mind, it is the official - out of the box - theme for over a dozen distros; and for the last 8 months, there's been an average of 8,400 satisfied downloaders per week, so I don't think the boss is going to want to change what most people want. All graphics cards render themes differently, as well. If you really wish to lighten or change the color of the text; send me a person message and I will be happy to walk you through a few tweaks. Cheers. Rikard - rtl88-Themes team member

Looks like a firm 10, by all indications. I saw the cherry version in a web-magazine that was highlighting it awhile back. Yesterday the blue version was on another website, so I thought I would give it a shot. I've been using your team's Avidity theme since forever, and I'm finally tired of it (no offense). This material colors seems pretty similar, but just blacker with some new colors to add to my mix. Your Abyss looks pretty okay too. Well, I'll probably keep this one for awhile (cyan material-black). I have to re-theme my browser css pages, etc., so I hope it performs like they are saying at these other sites. Thanks for the hard work, I trust your stuff a lot!

@babblegum I have thought about taking Plank out of the product. It is not actually a bug, they say. I use Plank, and it bothers me some; but it is an issue with Plank - and it has always been that way with their material renditions. You would have to file a report with that team.

I reported the fake spam review, below, boss. I suppose this is what happens when you have three themes get rated best for 2019/202 on major Linux magazine-websites. FWIW, they have been good about taking the fakes off our wonderful platform here. ;)

10 the best And it is the best. I have tried almost a dozen other themes and none of them do all of my apps properly. Some of them mess the non-native and gtk2 apps up, and other themes can't keep the apps uniformly themed. However, material-black themes them all correctly. It was worth trying all those others dark ones until I found this perfect theme. Thank you, your very talented people!

Great work, thanks a lot for sharing it with us. Anyway I don't use it yet on my Ubuntu 19.04 because of incompatibility with my very favorite file manager (Double Commander aka. doublecmd-gtk, installed through apt, not by snap or appimage). I don't understand what makes a dark theme work with this application or not but I see that Starlabs and Adwaita-dark are theming it perfectly. I don't know the difference with a theme like yours nor which files should be included or modified, sorry to be of no help. Do you think that this issue with Double Commander could be fixed? I would be glad to use this theme as I really like it. Here's a concrete example: Material Black Blueberry > https://i.imgur.com/r58oxjV.png StarLabs Dark > https://i.imgur.com/FGDgJHI.png I've posted a message on application's forum to get more informations about the files to customize but nobody answered for now > https://doublecmd.sourceforge.io/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5769
