Description:

Fresh Memory is an application that helps to learn large amounts of any material with Spaced Repetition method. The most important subject is learning foreign words, but Fresh Memory can be also used to learn anything else. Other examples are country's capitals and flags, chemical elements, mathematical formulas, technical terms. The learning data is stored as flash cards and dictionaries: sets of cards. The flash cards may have several fields, and the user controls what combination of fields to learn. The flash cards can have formatted text and images. The look of flash cards and studying parameters are can be flexibly adjusted.

Can we expect new features, like separating known and non-known answers (to answer failed questions again) or test-mode (with scores in the end)? I'm find this app wonderful, but lack of these functions is hurtful...

The spaced repetition study method will be released with the upcoming version 0.4 (will be released around 20 Nov 2008). This feature is already implemented, you can look at the latest version from svn:

svn co https://freshmemory.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/freshmemory/trunk freshmemory

Spaced repetition remembers what words you know and how well, and schedules them accordingly for the next repetitions.

The multiple choice test is planned for the 0.5 release.

what's your opinion on kwordquiz?

KWordQuiz has different tests based on flashcards, quite nice program. Though I didn't use it much. As I understand, it will be replaced with Parley in KDE4.
Now it is too early to compare Fresh Memory with other flashcard-based tools, since FM is under development. But in plans, the goal of Fresh Memory is not just to browse a list of flashcards, but to implement an adaptive scheduling of the study material in order to optimize the spaced repetition. Take a look at SuperMemo (www.supermemo.com) to get the idea where FM is moving to.

no, kwordquiz won't be replaced by parley.
please, design new features to be reusable (e.g. separate out parts of code/classes that can be useful for other apps).

and thank you for your work. i think that diversity is good...
