2008-04-05 Robert Hogan
KlamAV 0.43
o Fix compilation against ClamAV 0.93

2008-01-05 Robert Hogan
KlamAV 0.42
o Disable and remove auto-scanning of files when they are modified. The approach is not maintainable.
o Patch from "Nadav Kavalerchik" to handle hebrew filenames properly.
o Fix to prevent command injection from Dirk Mueller.
o Fix a couple of compiler warnings (Dirk Mueller dmueller at suse.de)
o Disable quarantining of files that exceed the limit by default. this one is debateable, but it
seems more people like to not have it by default, as they think their personal archive is a virus,
while it just compressed really well. I think this also matches the clamav default, but I might be
wrong (Dirk Mueller dmueller at suse.de)
o Fix the ui for archivelimits to show "default" when its 0, so that the user isn`t confusing it
with "no limit". ( Dirk Mueller dmueller at suse.de)
o Restrict khtml`s parsing and not allow javascript by default in the update dialog. also,
deleting the filelist is too much because it is already deleted via qojbect (Dirk Mueller
dmueller at suse.de)
o Fix https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=171414
o Patch to scheduled scan script from "Vincent J. Schiavoni"

After running klamavsetup.sh I get the following when it tries to install dazuko:
insmod: error inserting '/lib/modules/2.6.8-2-686/dazuko.ko': -1 Invalid parameters
mknod: wrong number of arguments
Try `mknod --help' for more information.
chown: cannot access `/dev/dazuko': No such file or directory

Any ideas?

mmm. have you tried performing the commands manually (as root)?

cp dazuko.o /lib/modules/`uname -r`/

'modprobe dazuko' or 'insmod /lib/modules/`uname -r`/dazuko.o'

mknod -m 600 /dev/dazuko c `grep dazuko /proc/devices | sed "s/ .*//"` 0

After much fiddling around I've finally got past the insmod and mknod errors errors but now I get this -
"configure: error: Can't find ClamAV's libraries. Please check your installtion of ClamAV"
I have ClamAV installed, which I installed via apt-get some time ago and it has always been working so I can only assume apt-get installs ClamAV libraries in a different location to what KlamAV expects or something.
Can anyone advise?

I assume that part of the KlamAV install process is compiling? If so, then you'll need to have the relevant *-dev packages installed. I find that configure scripts can be quite vague about that particular point. For ClamAV, the only -dev package I can find in Debian is "libclamav-dev". Try installing that.

Hope that helps,
Sam

I did already have it installed but it didn't help. Anyway, I installed the deb package listed a couple of posts down (god this "tree" system confuses the hell out of me) and KlamAV is working perfectly now.
Apologies if I sounded arsey in any previous posts, it's just that I always get problems installing anything that isn't a .deb package and it gets a bit frustrating at times.

I was getting the same errors and trying your suggestions just provided even more errors. May as well stick with f-prot.

I did try that. Same thing: "Invalid argument" with modprobe, or "invalid module format" with insmod :-[

I recommend downloading the latest release of dazuko at www.dazuko.org and giving it a spin....

It turns out that the documentation on dazuko.org was helpful. If the capability module was installed before dazuko, it won't let you insert the dazuko module, so just removing capability then inserting dazuko and reinserting capability will work!

Ok, I run PCLinuxOS preview8 with KDE 3.3.2 and when I first installed this program it was version 0.91. It then installed fine with the Dazuko module.

After an upgrade to version 0.94 all of a sudden the dazuko module didnt want to install anymore. It was complaining it needed security features enabled in the kernel (2.6.7). But I guess that feature had to be enabled in the first place cuz I could install Dazuko the first time.

I tried to install a standalone version of dazuko but I got the same msg while I didn't do anything to the kernel (no kernel upgrades, no recompile, nothing)

Any ideas about this?

I'm having a few issues with scanning and updating on Novell's SuSE Linux Professional 9.1 while using KlamAV's default user settings. When attempting to run a scan from KlamAV I get the following error:

"ERROR: /usr/local/share/clamav: Not supported database file type."

Under the "Update" tab I have the following default directory as "/usr/local/share/clamav" which doesn't appear to exist. I tried changing the update directory to "/var/lib/clamav" where the files "clamd.pid", "daily.cvd", "freshclam.pid" and "main.cvd" are located but still unable to update. Is KlamAV looking for the actual executable ClamAV file or something else?

I have no issue updating or scanning from the terminal using ClamAV commands. I would like to be able to have the GUI frontend KlamAV working if possible.

In the install manual it says:

----- If you like, you can/should put the command:

/sbin/insmod /opt/kde/bin/dazuko.o

in your startup scripts (e.g. /etc/rc.d/rc.local). If you don't, KlamAV will still load the module for you, but it will tell you what it is doing and ask for the root password. -----

But that does not work for Suse users. How is it done for people using Suse?

Report

For Suse, simply edit /etc/sysconfig/kernel

go to line 18

add dazuko to the space separated list of modules.

e.g MODULES_LOADED_ON_BOOT="dazuko"

and dazuko will be loaded automaticaly on boot

Does somebody know how to configure my machine that no user needs to enter the root password to start Dazuko?

Thanks

you can put 'modprobe dazuko' or something similar in your initialization script. I will look into putting this into the installation procedure...
