Description:

Landscape is a program that creates and renders fractal landscapes, with an interactive OpenGL preview of the final image.

This minor update fixes compilation under Linux and (fingers crossed) the occasional crash during rendering some people were experiencing.

The only binary release to date is for FreeBSD, other OSes will need to build from source (basic instructions are included in the archive).

this reminds me a bit of the upcoming game title "darwinia" by introversion software. look at www.darwinia.co.uk and let's hope it gets ported to linux like uplink did.

btw: nice application

A little hint for those who try to compile this really nice program on a SuSE-System.
In the Makefile change in the line beginning with:
INCPATH =
the part "-I/usr/include/kde" to
"-I/opt/kde3/include" and in the line beginning with
LIBS =
the part "-L/usr/lib -lkdeui" to
"-L/opt/kde3/lib -lkdeui" (all without quotation marks of course ;o) ).
(on a SuSE 9.0)

Made these changes. But I don't have qmake. Where can it be had?

I've never used SuSE, but it's likely to be either a part of the qt distribution or a separate package.

I've had a couple of problem reports from people who are experiencing compilation problems or crashes with landscape 0.7.

If this happens to you, please send me bug reports including the version of the OS you're using, a detailed description of the error and (if you can) gdb backtraces.

Cheers,

This reminds me of Terragen (www.planetside.co.uk I believe the link is or was). I was hoping to find something that worked much the same way but for Linux. Thanks for making this! :)

Thanks!

My original inspiration was Vista Pro, but Terragen is far more powerful - the atmospheric effects are very impressive.
