Well, that might be the case, but I didn't like this icon from the start. Don't get me wrong, it's a great icon in its own right and should be kept to give KDE a face. But I never got used to it as the icon for the KDE menu. I would definitely prefer something that is not quite as flashy but a bit more professional. That's all IMHO, of course.

I can't seem to get ikons to work for my panel icons,

the panel is set to small,

is this normal ?

If you use a small panel, you need 16x16 icons ... and these aren't yet available. I'll try to make them for iKons 0.6.
Some distributions (e.g. Redmond/Lycoris) have theur own icons, so you may have problems with iKons. If you're using Redmond/Lycoris, please tell me how iKons behave on it.

Nice one, thanks for doing the 'open folder' icons, you've just made your icon theme a permanent fixture on my Linux box. Cheers, you're a star. :)

The new desktop icon (the one with the giant pen) is only temporary. It's only purpose is to give you an idea of what I'm doing.
I'm also looking at the possibility to create an icon theme per category of icons (devices, mime-types, folders, applications, actions, etc.). By doing this, users will be able to select a different icon theme for each category, e.g. iKons folders together with default devices. Would you be interested to have this feature in Kcontrol?

Do you really write directly on your desktop?

The actual desktop icon is very nice, but I really don't think a giant pen is neccessary. :-)

great 'desktop' icon (the same one shown in your screen shot within konqueror file manager)

however for some reason the one in my task bar (quick link) is not changed by default. it's still the same old one that shows a blue screen. it would be nice if you could change this as it's sometimes confusing with the terminal icon...

also, would you be considering changing the default "K" gears icon (aka start button)?

Thanks.

I VERY MUCH prefer the old desktop icon. It just seemed to fit better with the folders that surround it on my box.

I think device icons should stay as they were in default KDE set.

Floppy should be just a floppy, CDROM just the CD disk. Otherwise floppy looks too similar to CD and HD. The old ones are easier to visually separate.

Great icons!

But it would look even better if those outlines were smooth (blended with the background)

It would be nice to have also a complete set of 16x16 icon. I use the small panel with the 16x16 icons and they still are the old one. Otherwise very nice in general.

It's a very tough call to make and I'm not certain myself which desktop icon I like better... They're both very well done! I think the 32x32 ever-so-slightly more attractive. Less representative of the desktop, maybe, but prettier.

The KControl wrench looks a little bit too detailed. It doesn't fit with the rest of the icons' relative simplicity. But the new gear metaphor is a good idea.

Really nice work, I use the icons most of the time in KDE and I really like them. Well done!

A request: how about icons for "open" folders? I can't remember the filenames, but they're the ones where the folder appears open, and contains a sheet of paper.

With that added, this set would be perfect IMO.

I'll try to create 'open folder' icons for iKons 0.6 ... In the future, the 'open icons' will be replaced by animated icons (MNGs).

I believe u should change (modify) the following icons:

-Make a new icon for thrasbin, for the text files, the archives
-Change the png icon, make the up,next, back icons more 3d.

Pleeeze no more 3d on the arrow buttons. Flatter just looks more professional, and non-intrusive. The 2.x series arrow buttons were very 3d and they absolutely stuck out like a sore thumb. I mean, the first time I installed KDE 2.0, the first time I ran konqueror, my eye gravitated to the back button and I thought "MY GOD!!! WHAT IS THAT _THING_???"

I think you should change some icons - text, cd, harddisk, kcontrol. And the 48x48 icon for desktop is much better for me!

Hi!

Your artwork rocks!
I was just wondering how i could install the icon set system-wide, so
all the users can see the set in their kcontrol, and only have to enable it to use it... That would be soo great to know :o)

Thanks!

This should work by moving the folder containing the whole icontheme from .kde/share/icons to $KDEDIR/share/icons.

Tackat
