Description:

Desktop icons is an eyecandy cartoonish style icon theme for KDE.

This iconset has been the starting point for the SKY icon theme.
Now, this new release is based on the SKY icons, in facts the
only difference are folder and trashcan icons.

Congratulations! Better and better!
But, the sizes of the icons are incorrect. At least cd and floppy devices should be the same sizes (and bigger); althought it's hard to do it, because if you put a floppy disk in the device (like in your cdrom icon), nobody will know what is the black thing looking out of the box;-) And another thing: If CD/floppy disk are mounted, why they're not in the device???

I don't think floppy and CD should be at the same size, simply beacause they aren't.

I'll upload something new only the next week.

I've thinked the same thing about the mounted status. But you know, it's only a preview.

About sizes: the devices icons are 48 pixel wide, but aren't tall 48 pixels. I don't think i'll make them bigger, cause I like desktop icons not so big, probably i'll reduce the trash icon size.

PS: i've just done an expectacular Iomega Zip icon, trust me!

bye

Rather than trying to be a clone of another OS - and it looks nice too.

Like the other posters said, I would make 2 changes
1) Change the CDROM color
2) Make different colors os the trash can, disk drives avaliable to match different themes
3) Make more icons, as you have talent ;)

Nice icons, perhaps you could change the colour of the CD to green or blue? The pink one reminds me a little of someone's tongue sticking out.

Maybe you are true, I'll change the cd color.

Much better! Great work on the icon set as a whole. It's got a really neat, coherent feel to it.

Finally a cool theme that don't tries to replicate a theme from another OS! Thank you! This theme look friendly and professional at the same time. Good good good!

that would be great if you make a printer icon ;)

Nice! I like the realistic look of your device icons, and the "flat", horizontal, orientation.
And no, in my opinion, the device icons are not too small ...

Keep up the good job!

Are devices icons too little than the trashcan?

I tried both versions (no borders and borders)and I prefer the borders.

The icons which don't have borders seem to blend in nicely with the desktop, but after some time I do find it unclear (maybe because of the missing lines)

When using the trashicon with borders I wass much more happy the way it looked. It looks more finished/polished imo if you would use the border_trash icon.

I have to say that this icon is really cool and maybe you should cooperate with Kristoff or so. Or maybe better .. design your own icontheme :-P

Thanx for this icon

good stuff!!!! It's nice to see work being done on a solid, understated, yet still cool- looking icon theme. Reminds me sort of BeOS or MacOS 8- easy on the eyes, but not boring. Not everybody wants shiny toys littering their desktop, so keep up the good work.

ps- if anyone cooks up some BeOS-like folders for KDE it'd be pretty spiffy. Im getting tired of the blue/white varities. Im too busy with terms to try my luck at it for now.

is starting to look very cool ... I like the new trashcan better. I like the closed bag in the full_trashcan. Maybe this trahscan can be used with iKons?

Great work ... are you planning some icons for devices? Very curious for those ...

take care'

For now i'm planning to remake this icon in a finest way, and then I think I'll start design other icons, and device icons are in the list, beacause I don't like the iKons' devices.

iKons rulez! And that's true - we need new trash&device icons for them. That will make iKons perfect!

Keep up the great work!

Youre posting a preview of a solitary, incomplete, mediocre tresh can icon?
No offence, but how boring can you get.

Woo, a tresh can icon, amazing!

/Me wonders when we will next see something decent like QNix or Liquid popup.

Oh, I see, you are the one who contributed those famous wallpapers with blue gradients and pasted stripes on top of KDE logo...
And you are the one who blends sick lemon yellow color with light blue color and call it for a wallpaper...
C'mon...

You have the wrong person.
How long does it take to make one trash can icon, thats all Im saying.
Less than the time it takes to start Gimp/Photoshop, put it that way.

all due respect, and with many thanks for your fine wp's (one is my default one now), you don't get it. If people would come up with complete, ready, functional icon sets there would no need for a web site like this, an ftp site would do.
If there is a "send comment" section here it is because we all here have very precise (sometimes!) and divergent (often!) ideas on what is a nice, cool, functional GUI. Here we can voice these opinions, and artists can take them into account. Feedback makes all the difference.
So it does make sense to post here a "prototype" of a single icon, as all the comments show.
This is no place for people that think that designing eye-candy is a race, "me made 20 icons!" and such. This is a collborative effort to get a better looking KDE.

peace out!

It takes a lot of time if you want to get a good result. A much more time then it takes to create your wallpapers. You have zoom tool in Gimp, don't you? So zoom into his icon and have a look at the details.
And you have to remember that that icon was his first upload her on kde-look and you are trying to discurage him with your arrogant comments.

What is incomplete here? He provided a trash icon because we need different trash icons painted in different colors for different desktop styles.
Mediocre icon? It is a fine piece of work and what is most important he didn't copy someone else artwork (which is BTW a big problem on this site, and especially icon themes).
Boring? No offence, but it is really boring replying to such an ignorant.
Woo, amazing, a trash can icon? I would really like to see your contributions, muhaha...
