Description:

This style provides a theme engines for KDE widgets which allows translucent menu and panel (kicker), all of that using a C++ based engine instead of using pixmaps which increase performance.
The translucent of the menu and of the panel are fully configurable.
Suggestions are appreciated.

The translucent of the menu and of the panel are fully configurable.

WHERE?

The translucent configuration of the menu and of the panel is in KControl in the section Look&Feel->Teax Transparency.

If you're using Mandrake, you have to do some weird stuff described in my reply to the "Mandrake problems" post above.

Will this be fixed for automake 1.5?
I upgraded in order to compile one program, and I don't really want to downgrade for another =(

I have Mandrake 8.1 and am running KDE 2.2.2. When I do make -f Makefile.cvs it gives me an error.
make[1]: aclocal: Command not found
make[1]: *** [cvs] Error 127
make: *** [all] Error 2

What am I doing wrong. What am I missing. I have installed the cvs packages and aclocal archive. thanks for any help you can give.

The exact package you need is automake-1.4-20.p5.mdk, which can be found on disc 1.

You don't do anything wrong, but are you sure that aclocal package is installed?
Maybe aclocal binary is in a other localtion from the ones specified in the variable $PATH.

The theme is really nice, good work. The only thing I miss (and which only a few themes provide) is a way to mark a selected menu item. To be more explicitly, open konqi, go to your home folder, in the 'View' menu select 'View mode' and you'll see there there four alternatives. Well, the default theme marks the selected alternative, most themes don't. The same situation happens in the popup menu of the taskbar applet. If I have 10 konqi's open I would like to know which is the active one, but with this theme I can't. Take it only as constructive criticism, the theme is really nice otherwise.
Keep up the good work.

On the upper hand, it's better than QNiX, which makes the active window's taskbar button white, so you can't even tell whether it's a grouped button or not.

Perhaps you could provide a patch yourself instead of merely complaining?

not everyone here is a programmer? You shouldn't have to be a programmer to use an operating system. You shouldn't have to be a programmer to provide feedback on an app/style/etc.

BTW, programs get better by feedback from users. The diffence between a great app/style/theme/etc. and yet another mediocre one is the constructive feedback between the people who write and the people who actually use it in the real world.

However, if I put kicker in auto-hide mode, and maximize a window on my desktop, then kicker should show the window behind it and not the background color. Is this planned in the future? That would be true transparency!

Excellent work, nevertheless!

Sorry, but a real trasparency isn't planned in the future :(, at present.

Isn't there real transparency in QT3? That would mean that kde3 should support it.

If anyone can tell me how to get this going in Debian sid it would be great. Compiles fine but doesn't show up in the control center. I remeber fixing something like this before but my memory sucks :)

you'll need to choose the teax style too. at first i thought the transparency is independent of the style that i'm using... i would prefer the qnix style... would be great to have the menus independant of everything else..

Report

i'm able to choose this under look n' feel... but transparency is not working... anyone have any ideas?

the solution is to provide the correct prefix during ./configure

i'm using debian and had the same problem..

everything's the same as above, but instead of:
./configure

use:
./configure --prefix=/usr

(and you might want to remove the stuff from last install in /usr/local/kde)
