I'm not quite with you. What do you mean by "create some links"? And I have no glass icons folder inside usr/share/icons? Any idea where my glass icons folder might be? I'd be very grateful for your help.

changing icon theme and then changing back can replace a reboot

also, theres more!
-drive-harddisk.svg -> ~/.icons/glass-icons/scalable/devices/gnome-dev-harddisk.svg
-drive-optical.svg -> ~/.icons/glass-icons/scalable/devices/gnome-dev-removable.svg
-drive-removable-media.svg -> ~/.icons/glass-icons/scalable/devices/gnome-dev-removable.svg

...and that's all I've seen so far

the /usr/shar/icons translates to ~/.icons

after doing:
- folder.svg -> ~/.icons/glass-icons/scalable/filesystems/gnome-fs-directory.svg
- user-trash-full.svg -> ~/.icons/glass-icons/scalable/filesystems/gnome-fs-trash-full.svg
- user-trash.svg -> ~/.icons/glass-icons/scalable/filesystems/gnome-fs-trash-empty.svg

also do:
-user-home.svg -> ~/.icons/glass-icons/scalable/filesystems/gnome-fs-home.svg
-computer.svg -> ~/.icons/glass-icons/scalable/filesystems/gnome-fs-client.svg
-applications-internet.svg -> ~/.icons/glass-icons/scalable/filesystems/gnome-fs-web.svg
-user-desktop.svg -> ~/.icons/glass-icons/scalable/filesystems/gnome-fs-desktop.svg
-network-workgroup.svg -> ~/.icons/glass-icons/scalable/filesystems/gnome-fs-server.svg

This is what I did (I had the same problem with no Glass Icons folder)

1. Open Nautilus with root permission (terminal - sudo nautilus)
2. Extract the Glass Icons tar.gz file into /usr/share/icons folder.
3. Go to /usr/share/icons/glass-icons/scalable/filesystems/ and right click the gnome-fs-directory.svg file and select the Make Link option. This will create a link and you rename that link folder.svg. Do the same with the other 2 files.
4. Once I did this I was able to customize my theme with the Glass Icons showing in the icons area.

I also have hardy heron, and changing that one line is all i had to do to make it work. But maybe we have different versions of the glass icons. I am using version 0.3 available from the glass themes website, instead of 0.2 which is here on gnome-look. Here is the link:

The folder icon does not work (on ubuntu hardy), toghether with the other filesystem icons.

To fix this, i edited the index.theme file, replacing
Context=FileSystems

with

Context=Places

(figured this out by looking at another theme that was working properly).

how did u edit the icon.theme file? wut did u use? i tried open office, but it obviously can't save it as a .theme file....

Yuor work is good but I think that a more realistic glass effect is given from defined qhite shapes. You use white gradient. But the reflection on glass isn;t a gradient it is defined it has a clear border. If you look to some crystal icons you'll see it.

Very nice icon set!

There is a bug though. Some of the icons (the ones with colorful screens) are linked to a jpg file that is not part of the icon theme. I suggest revising the theme and including the JPG images with proper linking.

Examles of icons with this problem are: my-computer.svg, gdm.svg, gnome-fs-network.svg, gnome-system.svg ...

The linked file are:

Good stuff guys, keep it up, we need some app icons, if i could put in a couple whole-hearted requests, that I'd be interested in seeing:

Firefox icon
Stepmania
Frets on Fire
Gimp
Pidgin
and... pidgin emoticons in the future would be cool too

Hey there!
I realy love this icon-theme, however, there's the problem occuring that some icons (the one for my home-directory, eg.) just won't change...
That'd look extremely ugly, as there's glass everywhere, except if you go up quite far in Nautilus ;)

Is there a solution to this? I'm using Ubuntu 7.10, if that helps...

I really like this icon theme. but what i would like to do is make the font color pretty and not just white. Is there a way to make the font say #FFC600

hi. i cant install this pack. im trying to copy all the icons in terminal and all is done is:
przemo@przemo-desktop:~$ sudo cp /home/przemo/glass /usr/share/icons/glass
cp: katalog `/home/przemo/glass' zostal pominiety (was skipped? or sth)

what should i do?
