Description:

This is a "chrome-like" clock designed by me to match my personal theme tastes. I hope other people like it too (even though it's nothing major :) )

Nothing was pre-rendered or snagged from the web :). Everything was made entirely in GIMP 2.0. The chrome look is a bump-mapped frame and color-curve tweaked to give a chrome look.

Features:

- 12hr format
- 2 slightly different versions, one with a drop shadow and one without
- Date, Day & AM/PM display
- Clock face is clickable and brings up the time/date config in KDE

-- If there is any demand for for different size/shape/textures, I will create some on request.

PS. I did no major python coding....except for a few very minor things. This is more of an artistic submission. Props to the original coders (you know who you are), and Matti's LCD clock for the idea and use of some of his config stuff as a template. :)

PS.PS. The 3D Chrome KRoller bar and wallpaper are my creations also :) The wallpaper is available here. The bar I did just for myself... but if anyone has any ideas....ask away and I'll see what I can whip up.

Hope you enjoy :)

-- Currently the 12hr display with a custom sized and placed AM/PM text is done using a minor hack in the config file. Single digit hours still have a leading zero, but are there basically as a placeholder. I could'nt get it to work right without it....every time the time went from a 1 digit hr to a 2 digit hr, and vice versa, the text shifted in a way that it screwed up the whole look. But I think I will be able to correct that soon :). I don't think SuperKaramba has full customization support for this so I had to work around that fact. If I'm wrong, please let me know. :)

-- v0.2 Added mask for users who like
clock always on top. This way
there is no "blocked out" area
where the applet is. (non drop-
shadow version)

I made it smaller for KDE 3.2 @1024x768 and Normal panel size. It's now 100x47.

some really good work.. Thanks. I just fine that chrome-clock is sometimes lagging by 1 minute compared to kde taskbar's clock. Any idea why?

Hmmm. Good question. Should'nt be because it is pulling it directly from system time. The only thing I can think of, is depending on the time installed, because it refreshes every minute, it might have been caught just about a minute back. You may want to open up the .theme file, and on the top, change the interval to 15000 and see if that helps. Warning though, with Karamba its in milliseconds. 1000 milliseconds=1 second, 60000 milliseconds=60 seconds. At 15000, it will refresh every 15 seconds. The lower the interval, though, the harder it is on the CPU. But you will probably not even notice because the refresh is still pretty high.

Experiment a bit and let me know. I'm curious as I don't even use my tray clock....I never noticed it. Might be good to know :) If that helps, and I verify it. I will make the changes :).

Thanks for the input

You can double check the .theme file by right-clicking on the clock >> Edit >> Edit theme. The last entry on the very top line should be ONTOP=false.

I had the same issue. I did not try the editing of the theme. I did however uninstall version .33 and installed the karamba .32b version and it worked just fine. Liquid weather and other themes that I have downloaded are not always comming up ontop. It appears to be a bug in version .33 of superkaramaba and kde 3.2 Hope this helps...

This is very nice. My LCD theme always suffered from my lack of abilities with the GIMP. This is soo much better.

Thanks
