Description:

This is a toolbar for Konqueror aiming to add a functionality similar to the one that can be found into the gtk file selector, the filemanager of Solaris CDE and the Windows Vista filemanager.
All the elements of the path are represented by a button so this is very easy to go up into the hierarchy.
the first button switches between the addressbar mode/pathbar mode.

This more a proof of concept, is yet not much usable, in particular:
-some protocols like tar or ftp are not handled correctly
-the choice between pathbar and addressbar is not remembered
-the addressbar still does not have history and autocompletition
-it's available only when konqueror displays an iconview or a listview

The pathbar's is useful but it hinders our ability to type a URL say /tmp which is very annoying.

I would like to see a merging of both good location bar (of kde) + pathbar (of gnome).

I see that on HOVERING on part of KDE's URL should get the PATHBAR button or a animated dropdown entry box which could allow "typing of url"

like: You are here:
file://tmp/testing/ABC

now you want to go to DEF folder

file://[/][tmp][ABC]

now hovering on the ABC should either:
1. popup a button where on RIGHT CLICK we could enter a URL or a dropdown list (like a menu)

2. an area like a tooltip exactly below the ABC to enter DEF...

so combining the features of both worlds will definitely work good :)

Oh, this is hard. There are some advantages/disadvantages with this feature, can't decide which solution I like most. :/

This is the only thing
I ever liked about the GTK
file selector. In all other
aspects the KDE selector is
way superior in my opinion.
Outside the file selector
(i.e. in Konqueror like in
your proposal) this is also
very useful.
Did you already file a
WISHLIST-bug in bugs.kde.org??
