Aurorae Themes

Description:

Window decoration for Aurorae, based on Breeze and Dynamo. Transparent for blur compositing (50% opaque) and supports color schemes (window background for content, view hover for button colors). Moderate border and title bar size (just slightly larger than Oxygen).

This represents what I wish a modern desktop theme for KDE would look like, in terms of both appearance and features. Meant to be used with the Breeze or Oxygen Transparent widget styles, and compatible with both KDE4 and Framework 5. The screenshot shows various color styles achieved with system color settings.

10 Hello, Does the color changing thing still works in plasma 5? I couldn't get it to work. Regardless its awesome!

Works for me on openSUSE Tumbleweed (which uses the latest version of Plasma). Remember that the titlebar follows the window background color, as Aurorae doesn't allow using the titlebar color directly.

Am i in the wrong place? https://i.ibb.co/fMBR3FJ/Screenshot-20201026-195456.png Changing window background there does not change anything. System is manjaro with plasma ver 5.19.5 tried on other rigs too (all manjaro)

Yes, that color option should be it. It works fine for me, just tested again now and the color changes accordingly. Plasma 5.20.1, before I had 5.19.5 and no issues then either.

Hmm just realized, im using a plasma theme called harmony. When I change my theme to something else it works. So harmony is the problem not freeze, my bad.

I am a longtime user of the Freeze Aurorae theme. Great work! However I made some changes in the freezerc file:
BorderBottom=6 becomes 1
BorderLeft=6 becomes 1
BorderRight=6 becomes 1
Now you can realy have NO border if you want to and let kwin make the border wider in the settings...
ButtonMarginTop=0 becomes 3
Looks nicer!
I hope you appreciate this constructive criticism of a big fan!

Nice! I like it with borders so I'll keep the original this way, but feel free to submit your fork if you wish.

Oops, I tried the freeze window-decoration using Wayland and it worked 100% but when I went back to X it kept working. It seems all is perfect now!

Might have been a temporary bug caused by the update, such as a cache issue. I shall be on the lookout for this once the Plasma 5.13 update rolls over in my distro.Thanks for the heads up!

The freeze window-decoration stopped working correctly after plasma 5.13 was installed. Too bad because it is the most beautiful decoration around.

Would there be a way to make your great window decoration Freeze adapt to the opacity of the plasma desktop theme?

Unfortunately, as far as I'm aware, KDE does not let you adjust the opacity of elements. This is a feature I've actually been wanting to propose: Allow adjusting the RGBA of each entry in the color scheme, rather than just the RGB and leaving the alpha fixed. Sadly I don't know if such a major change will ever be brought over.

Looks great. Just what I've been looking for. It works well with the Agik transparent Plasma theme: https://store.kde.org/p/1187441/

Note that this theme has its own Plasma counterpart, in case you're interested in using that as well: https://www.opendesktop.org/content/show.php?content=168760

hi! using Freeze for my plasma theme, would like to use it for window manager as well - is it possible to get a transparent background like you have in the image for the decoration? that was something I've wanted to get functioning since the compiz days.

Greetings. The transparency of the KWin theme is the same as that of the Plasma panel background (0.5 alpha). Just select the theme for KWin and it will work the same way as that for Plasma.

Hurrah! I found out! The Freeze window decoration gets its color from the "colors" file that is located in the "root directory" of the plasma-theme. Plasma-themes can be located in the folder ~/.local/share/plasma/desktoptheme or in /usr/share/plasma/desktoptheme. There is the file "colors" and in the file "colors" there is the line: BackgroundNormal=xx,yy.zz under the item [Colors:Window]. And THERE the color of the window decoration comes from. GREAT, thank you so much for pointing me in the rigt direction!

I read that to change the color of the window decoration I have to change Configure Desktop -> Application Appearance -> Colors -> Colors -> Common Colors -> Window Background. That seems strange. Isn't the freeze window decoration color derived from Configure Desktop -> Application Appearance -> Colors -> Colors -> Common Colors ->Active Titlebar?

Unfortunately the titlebar color is not made available to svg elements for Aurorae. Therefore I went with what Oxygen did, and used the background color which was the closest match.
